Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza contest appears in Phase 4 launching on April 15th .
Every Sunday from 2 PM till 4 PM by Server Time you can take part in this amazing Fishing event.
Before event starting, Dwarf and Goblin NPCs will appear in Ironforge and Orgrimmar respectively to inform everyone of the contest beforehand.
The contest is based on hunting the coastline of Stranglethorn Valley for fishing pools of Speckled Tastyfish and being the first to catch 40 of them to turn in to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay.
The turn in is accomplished through a quest – Master Angler.
You can fish Speckled Tastyfish from the pools just like other types of pools. About 20-25% of all fish caught from these pools will be non-contest “fish”: Firefin Snapper, Oily Blackmouth, Stonescale Eel, Stranglekelp and occasionally rare fish. Once you have caught 4 or 5 fish, the pool will disappear. You will need to find another pool to continue fishing.
Speckled Tastyfish binds to you when caught, so you cannot trade them. The fish go bad after 4 hours in your inventory, so you cannot save Speckled Tastyfish for the next week.
Rewards:
Arcanite Fishing Pole – this is the single best fishing buff item in the entire game increasing your fishing skill by 35.
Hook of the Master Angler – this trinket allows you to turn into a fish, gaining extra swim speed and water breathing.
If you weren’t the first one, you still receive 23 Silver per 5 fish.
Tip: If you fish for the full two hours, you should be able to catch 100-150 fish. The number of people fishing dramatically reduces once a winner has been announced, which makes it far easier to find fresh pools.
You can turn it in to Fishbot 5000 for an extremely cool rewards:
- Keefer’s Angelfish for Lucky Fishing Hat (+5 Fishing skill)
- Dezian Queenfish for High Test Eternium Fishing Line (+ 5 Fishing skill)
- Brownell’s Blue Striped Racer for Nat Pagle’s Extreme Anglin’ Boots (+5 Fishing skill)
How to win?
*Better to be 30+ level to avoid enemy NPCs along the coast.
*The minimum skill requirement for Fishing is 130, but we recommend to be at 255 skill. Certainly, you can use lures but they won’t help much.
*Set your Hearthstone to Booty Bay. This will let you return to the city instantly upon acquiring your last Speckled Tastyfish.
*Fast mount helps you to change location.
*Fishing where others are not. As soon as the pool disappears, move on, preferably in a different direction than others are going. If there are already 3 or more people fishing in a spot, better not to stop there.
